February 28, 2018 - NO

Hello my friends how are you all doing, well this week was super busy for us and a ton of weird stories also took place, so this will be an exciting email!
So Saturday was nuts. We had to meet up from some divisions that we had on Friday down in San Bernardo, in the south part of our mission, and then we had to go back to our sector because we had the baptism of Nico! Nico is the little boy that we have been teaching and it was so fun to see his baptism, he asked me to baptize him, which is also the first time I have done that in my mission, usually a member of our ward does the actually baptizing, but Nico wanted me to do his! So I do not know who was more nervous, me or him, but it all worked out great! I was so excited for him to see him finally come to become a member of the Church, it was a nice and pleasant baptismal service, and his entire family was there to support him. Right after the baptism we went to bishops house to eat lunch with him and talk about the things of the wrad, so that we could get all organized with what our goals and the goals of bishop are and how we can work together!
So Part 2 of Saturday was that our investigators Regina and Uber got married! They had their wedding in the chapel at night time, so we hurried and ran over, because I was also the witness for their marriage, so I had to sign the papers, aka, I was the best man!!!!!!!! So that was freaking dope. It was a great wedding, the members really helped out with decorating the chapel and getting the food and everything prepared, it was a great wedding. I was sweating bullets for about an hour because some of my legal paperwork was weird and I thought they were not going to let me be the witness and that the wedding was going to get called off, but no! It all was good so we are good. And on Sunday, Uber got baptized in the afternoon, so overall it was one of the best weekends of my mission.
Ok so scary and funny story of the week. So last night we are chilling in our house the 4 of us just talking about our day and our lives and all of the sudden there is a knock on our door which was super weird because it was likt 10:30 at night. My companion opens the door and there is an old guy standing there with a crazy look on his face and he tells us to leave the house so that he can come inside. We all looked at each other and my companion says "NO HAVE A NICE NIGHT". So we were almost robbed last night, but my companion was a legend and polietly told the guy to get lost, so he did not rob us wooooohooooooooo!
The misson is great, remember guys do not open the door to weird, old, bearded men who have one hand behind their back asking to go inside your house!

Elder Tilghman

February 21, 2018 - Bad Mayonesa

Fetch, well this week was awesome and was a little difficult at the same time. Altiro I am just going to explain the email title. So on Saturday me and my boy Elder Gavilànez are going back to the house at night and we were really hungry, we had not eaten anything all day so we decided to go and buy a churrasco (street sandwich) from a lady on the side of the street. It was SUPER cheap so we thought it was a steal. Come to find out it was relay cheap because the mayonesa was bad, so she was selling them to get rid of them. So all Saturday night and Sunday my companion and I were in the bathroom. There was a cagefight in our stomachs against the meat and the mayonesa, and we were the losers. And to make the story even better, it was stake conference on Sunday and we arrived late because we were in the bathroom, so overall great weekend!
OK but the people. So on Saturday Camila was baptized!! We were so happy for her, it was a great baptismal service and the spriit was super strong, Alex, a young man in our ward, baptized her, it was great! I confirmed Camila a member of the church on Sunday in Stake Conference, and after she was confirmed, the entire room felt happier, the Spirit was there as well, overall, besides the bad mayo, it was a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This weekend is going to be great sa well. NIco, the boy we have been teaching gets baptized on Saturday and he is super excited as well, and he chose me to baptize him so this will be the first time I am actually going to get in the water for a baptism in my mission, all of the other baptisms members have done them, so I am a little nervous as well! As well this Saturday, hermano Uber will be getting baptized, after a year of listening to the missionaries, and he is super pumped as well, which makes me and my comp super pumped wooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo! We have also had a great week of finding new people to teach and to bring them to church and to Christ, as I always say, I love the mission!
Yesterday my companion was almost robbed, this dude came up to us and wanted his watch. My comp just stood there, so the dude took his pens and ran away, so it was like a mini robbery, but all is good in the hood! I love the mission, I have learned so much and grown closer to my Savior in a way that I never imagined before, I hope you all have a great week!

February 15, 2018 - Surprise!

Hello everyone how are you doing? This week has been hectic so I am going to let you know some of the details about what has happened in the last week.
But of course, we have to start with the people. So I do not know if you guys remember, but about a year ago when I was with Elder Gowers, we contacted a haitian named Nevelt and we taught him for 5 months, and then I left the sector so I do not know what happened with him. But, the other day I got a phone call and another missionary told me that they had refound Nevelt in a different sector and that he was getting baptized! Nevelt remembered me and invited me to his baptism, so I got permission and we went, becasue as well my comapnion ahora, Elder Gavilanez, taught Nevelt a couple months ago! So we show up at the homies baptism and he saw me and ran over and gave me a giant hug, I LOVE THAT GUY! After a year of hearing the missionaries, Nevelt finally entered the waters of baptism, miracles do exist.
And ......... this Saturday Camila is getting baptized! She is the daughter of Freddy and Jhubytza, and she is super ready to get baptized, we have everything all planned out, and she is so excited, so there will definitely be another good story coming next week! As well we are preparing for several other baptisms in the upcoming weeks, so our lives have become a little more crazy than normal, but it is a good crazy!
Yesterday we had a visit from Elder Christofferson from the Cuorum of the 12. We were all waiting for him to come, and we did not even hear or see him enter the building, but all of the sudden the atmosphere changed and the Spirit became almost tangible, it was awesome. He talked about the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine of Christ, it gives me such comfort to know we have authorized servants fo God on the earth today.
Ok so lets talk about the week. So last Saturday my companion and I changed houses! There were some missionaries that were struggling in the zone, so we talked with President, and we moved in with them for this week, so that as well has made our lives crazy, becuase our new house is like 500 miles away from our sector, ahahhahah ok not really but it is freaking lejos. As well in the last 6 days we have been on 5 divisiones with different missionaries, I am so glad to be back with my normal companion after all of this time, I missed the little guy.
Of course, I always say it, but I love the mission, I know that this church is true. When Lehi talked of the delicious fruit that he tried in his dream, it was the fruit and the joy of the Gospel, nothing else blesses us the way that Cristo and teh gospel do. Love yall!

February 7, 2018 - The Trash has been taken out

I am tired. But it is all good, I think last week was the greatest week of my mission as far as teaching and finding and getting people to church. We were outside a ton, and we were able to teach a buch of people, so it was a good week.
Ok so the people. Homeboy Mateo is progressing like a champ, we went and talked with his parents and they are totally onboard that he can get baptized here next weekend, and we are super excited as well! We had an appointment with Mateo in the chapel eysterday and he brought one of his friends as well to come and listen to us. At the end of the lesson they decided to run around and do parkour on all of the eletrical boxes and stuff at the church, and of course, they fell off. But it is all good! No one got hurt and they lurned a lesson about not doing dumb things! As well we are teaching a guy named Marcelo, we met him yesterday. We knocked on his dorr and he left his house, and was eating a sandwich, and did not have his shirt on. He let us talk with him outside and he wants to learn more about Jesus, and even accepted a baptismal date in the first lesson, the maquina. On Sunday we went to the Peruvian families house, Regina and Uber and we talked with them. We had just gotten out of lunch and I was stuffed, and they gave us a massive plate of seafood to eat, I ate what I could and then tried to act like the rest did not exist because I could not eat anymore. The little daughter walks in and said "Elder Tilghman if you do not eat alot, how are you so fat?" That made me feel great.
Overall things are going great, I do not have too much to report this week. On Friday we had a metting with President and all of the leaders in the mission and we talked about things we can do to help the missionareis and to help the mission grow and expand. I am super excited for the changes that are coming, it is going to be really awesome! And on Monday we had a meeting with a couple Zone Leaders in the South Part of the mission, but the best part was, we had free Dunkin Donuts!!!!!!!!! Definitely the highlight of the day.
Overall things are going great, love the mission more and more as each day passes, and I love the poeple more and more as I intereact and work with them. I love yo uall and hope you have a great week!

Love,
Elder Tilghman
